This is such a positive statement for Westford, and I think it reflects on all the work the town has done to conserve open land, improve schools, and provide recreational opportunities for people of all ages.
Even if you don’t agree with everything the town does, you have admit Westford is a great place to live. Westford was the only town in Massachusetts to be selected as a Best Place to Live.
Relocate America is an organization that helps home buyers and sellers access relocation resources, and they do these awards to help people who are relocating select learn about great places to live. They make their selections by analyzing key data regarding education, employment, economy, crime, parks, recreation and housing.
Here’s an excerpt of what they say about Westford in their Relocation Guide: “While Westford maintains many of the amenities of a larger city, it prides itself on its small-town feeling. Neighbors know neighbors. People say hello to one another. The city neighborhoods are a wonderful blend of older and newer homes. A variety of styles –Victorians, colonials, capes and ranches –are represented. Besides the selection of single-family homes, two- and three-family units are also available, and innovative re-use of former mills has led to the development of executive-class apartments and condominiums within walking distance of Westford’s many cultural amenities.” Read the entire description of Westford.
The only other towns in New England that made the list are Trumbull, CT; Portland, ME; Lebanon, NH, and Montpelier, VT.
FiOS is coming, FiOS is coming
April 10, 2009
Looks like Verizon FiOS may be coming to Westford, giving some competition to Comcast. But it could still be several years before all neighborhoods will be connected.
It’s about time, since Acton, Boxborough, Littleton and Tewksbury already have FiOS. And since we have to watch so many of those Verizon FiOS commercials, with the pathetic cable guy, we should at least be able to buy the product.
According to the Westford Eagle, between 7,000 and 8,000 Westford households subscribe to Comcast, and Westford is not restricted to having only one cable provider.
