Leveraging the Internet to Sell Your Home
January 24, 2008
Today, 90% of home buyers search for homes on the Internet before reaching out to any real estate agents, and they search for an average of 3 weeks before making the first contact with an agent.
Over 40% of home purchasers found the home they bought on the Internet, whereas only 29% found it through a real estate agent and fewer than 10% of buyers found it in a newspaper.
So if you want your house to sell, it has to be found online.
Here are just a few of the ways I give your home the Web presence it needs to be found by those 90% of Internet searchers:
- Your home gets a dedicated Web site, with your address as the Web address.
See http://www.12BarnLane.com/ for an example of a site I posted for a single-family home, and http://www.162WestviewDrive.com/ for a site for a condominium.
- Your home gets featured in search engine ads, so it is found by people using Google to find homes for sale in your town. See a slide show with examples of Google ads.
- Your home gets listed on all the sites that people go to when looking for a home.
See a slide show with examples of site listings.
Client Testimonial from Paul & Kate Hardiman

Susan was an absolute pleasure to work with. We had been looking for over 6 months, in 6 different towns and had seen 75-100 homes. Susan was always energetic, “happy to see us”, organized and always had the answers to our many questions.
